Alistair Wood
From 2008 to 2015, I worked for Bombardier Aerospace in the Advanced Aerodynamics Department in Montreal. I did software development and aerodynamic analysis aided by computational fluid dynamics.
In January of 2008, I completed my MASc degree at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies in the CFD and Propulsion Group. The title of my thesis was "Parallel Implicit Adaptive-Mesh-Refinement Scheme for Hypersonic Flows." My research mostly dealt with effective preconditioning of the linear update step of Newton's method but also made the entire flow solver more robust.
In 2005, I completed my BASc degree with the Division of Engineering Science at the University of Toronto, in the Aerospace Option. As part of the degree, I did a 15‑month internship at Consensys Computers through the PEY program at the University of Toronto. At Consensys Computers, I programmed Linux hardware drivers written in C for our custom-built network-attached storage devices.
I currently dance with the Montreal Branch of The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. I previously took pipe organ lessons from William Maddox of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church in Toronto. I passed the Licentiate Recital Exam of Trinity College London in organ in 2007. I completed with honours the grade 9 exam in piano of The Royal Conservatory in 1998.
